📰 News we're reading

• Centurions hold of Norse in volleyball action (dailypress.net) — Bay College's Norse volleyball team battled Montcalm Community College in Escanaba, pushing the conference match to five sets before falling 15-12 in the decider. Despite strong serving runs and double-digit kills from several Norse players, Montcalm's late momentum swings proved decisive, and Bay now turns its attention to a road match at Gogebic Community College.

• TV6 Investigates: 'You can never be too careful,' UP water systems combat cyberattacks (uppermichiganssource.com) — Escanaba's water and wastewater systems are heavily monitored and kept offline from the open internet to reduce cyberattack risks, according to local public works leaders. While officials stress that residents' drinking water is secure, they're turning more attention to Escanaba's aging mains from the 1880s and planning proactive pipe replacements to avoid disruptive failures in coming years.

• Bay College brings Strings on the Bay event to Iron Mountain campus (uppermichiganssource.com) — Bay College is expanding its long-running Strings on the Bay program, traditionally held in Escanaba for more than 30 years, to its Iron Mountain campus. Leaders say they want to share the cultural and educational experiences Escanaba enjoys with Dickinson County residents, while planning more community events throughout the school year.
