A Farmington Hills photographer celebrates a new exhibit at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield.
Farmington Hills photographer Dane Gussin celebrated a unique showing of his work Saturday, with a reception at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield.
Gussin's work is featured for the next two months in the "Healing Arts" gallery, which is part of the hospital's Healing Arts program. Created in 2006, the program's mission is to create "restorative and calming environments for patients, visitors and staff," according to a brochure on display at the event.
The rotating collection of works by local artists includes original paintings, art tiles, mixed media collages, encaustic works and, of course, photography. Gussin said he contacted the hospital after learning about the gallery and offered to loan some of his work.

"I gave them a choice of about a hundred photos, and they picked the ones they wanted based on the synergy of healing," Gussin said.
Works in the Henry Ford exhibit include scenic shots of locations in Washington and Michigan and wildlife. The gallery is located on Artists Avenue, which is on the hospital's main floor.
