Residence: Grand Blanc, Michigan
Type of art: Acrylic Painting, Photography
How did you get started as an artist?: I began my art venture as a teenager in pastels and graphite doing mostly portraits, but graduated from MSU in Business and Advertising. Not happy with my assigned career direction, I was compelled to work in art. I became a Graphic Artist, creating training manuals with art and promotional items for the Big 3 automotive companies. After 10 years of putting my art career on hold to raise a family, I began my studies at the Flint Institute of Arts and am moving forward in Art.
Describe your art: I am currently working in Acrylics working toward mastering the medium. Recently I have ventured in still life and daily paintings. But mostly, I paint from reference photos I take on my travels. I love nature’s beauty, wildlife, historical sites and antique architecture and many other subjects.
What is your next project?: My current projects are a floral series and landscape series of various scenes around Michigan.
Where can your art be found?: I am concentrating on summer art fairs. The week after the Fenton Art Walk I am participating in the Petoskey Art in the Park.
What inspires you?: Michigan’s beauty inspires me. It’s landscapes, history, attractions and people.
Do you belong to any art organizations?: My memberships include Greater Flint Arts Council, Brighton Art Guild, Shiawassee Art Center and Glen Arbor Art Association.
