2014 Fenton ArtWalk Artists Deanna and Daren Baker to Appear at Iconic Industries (across from City Hall) July 12

Residence: Fenton, MI

Type of art: Graphic, Functional and Repurposed Designs

How did you get started as an artist?: We both have loved art from the moment we picked up our first set of crayons. We started working together shortly after we met 16 years ago in Seattle, WA and have been learning and creating together ever since.

Describe your art: Whimsical...we enjoy life and I think our art reflects that. Daren makes beautiful woodwork and functional pieces. I fuse glass and design the graphics while we both paint the final pieces. I also make sliver jewelry, children's clothing and accessories.

What is your next project?: Creative U...bringing our knowledge and passion for art to the community.  We believe that we were all created to create and with so many cuts to art programs in schools over the years, children are missing out on the benefits of art academically, mentally and socially.  To help tackle this issue, we are currently turning our "new" 1955 Duro camper into a mobile art studio. Our goal is to bring art to everyone who would like to learn and experience it. Currently, we teach classes to both children and adults in coffee shops, schools and homes. Look for the Creative U wandering art studio soon!

Where can your art be found?: Online at www.dbdesignsit.com and for Creative U, www.facebook.com/creativeU.artstudios

What inspires you?: Our two rambunctious kids! They not only keep us on our toes but show us the silly side of life.

Do you belong to any art organizations?: Livingston Art Council and The Avenue, and online children's boutique group.
