BURTON BY TARA MORENO— The Burton Area Jaycees hosted a birthday party at Sharky's to celebrate the one year anniversary of the chapter's incorporation, April 26.
Approximately 35 people attended the event with the chance to win door prizes that were “generously” donated by Sharky's, Bubba O'Malley's, Bentley Florist, Bowl Flint, NCG Cinemas, Bear Soup Deli, Tropi-Tan, and Mr. P's Wash World.
The Jaycees welcomed new member Gordon Grandy who was sworn in by President Stephanie Wade during the party.

According to Management Vice President Sarah Ellis, the Burton Area Jaycees provide our members leadership development through the hands on planning and implementation of programs and projects for the betterment of the Burton Area. Jaycees will also receive professional and social networking opportunities, opportunities to improve upon their personal and life skills, and affordable local and regional trainings and conferences.
Membership is open to anyone between the ages of 21 and 40 living and/or working in Genesee County.

The Burton Area chapter is currently the only Jaycee chapter located in Genesee County.
Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at the Redwood Steakhouse in the Sequoia Lounge at 7 p.m.
There is a social hour prior to the meeting, beginning at 6p.m.
The next meeting is May 20.
New member dues are regularly $70 for a one- year membership.
Currently the jaycees are offering a $10 discount for new members who join by May 30, 2013.
