Second Chance Toys Calling on Flint Business and Community Groups To Help Get Toys to Disadvantaged Children This Holiday Season

Toy requests are flooding Second Chance Toys (SCT) from organizations coast to coast, including Flint – which is why the non-profit organization is asking for local businesses and/or places of worship, libraries and gyms to step up to the plate and act as collection points for SCT’s holiday toy drive.

“We are being inundated with requests for toys by many groups which serve disadvantaged children, says Sasha Lipton, founder of Second Chance Toys.  “We need volunteers to hold drives of gently used plastic toys so that we are able to provide children in Flint with toys that they might otherwise go without.”

Lipton founded Second Chance Toys when she was still in high school, upset by the sight of gently used plastic toys left for trash pick-up.  Since then, the group has collected, cleaned, and distributed more than 110,000 gently used plastic toys to children in need.  Donating the toys has helped make a difference in the lives of thousands of children, while also keeping tons of non-biodegradable plastics out of landfills.

Second Chance Toys, is a 401(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 2006 to rescue and recyle plastic toys for children in need. SCT conducts toy drives twice a year: December for the Holidays and April for Earth Week and makes arrangements to pick up the toys from collection points and deliver them to organizations that have requested the toys.
