The UPS Store 10 Year Anniversary

A short decade ago...UPS® acquired the Mail Boxes Etc. brand in 2001. In April of 2003, approximately 3,000 Mail Boxes Etc. locations in the United States (at the time, nearly 90 percent of the U.S. network) re-branded as The UPS Store and began offering lower UPS-direct shipping rates.


Fast forward to today – still locally owned and operated, The UPS Store® continues to offer a variety of shipping, freight, postal, printing and business services, with convenient locations and world-class service. With more than 4,700 independently-owned locations in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, The UPS Store, Inc. is the world’s largest franchisor of retail shipping, postal, printing, and business service centers.

Approximately 80 percent of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles of a The UPS Store location. Those locations now include hotels, convention centers, university campuses and military bases. The UPS Store has twice as many locations as FedEx Office.

We can Print that! From paper-on-glass to print-from-mobile and home - In addition to packing and shipping items, we print banners, brochures, menus and many other products.

  • Trained to Print: In 2010, The UPS Store HQ and the Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly (a facility designed to support education in the graphic arts industry) worked together and created a new print training program to help franchisees and associates become more able and confident in all things print.
  •  Print from your phone: HP® ePrint is a mobile print solution that allows customers to tap into the power of cloud services for printing on the go.
  • Print from home: Use The UPS Store online printing to upload and submit documents online to get professional-looking results.
  • Every customer, every door: The UPS Store coordinated with the U.S. Postal Service® to provide Every Door Direct Mail Retail®, a targeted, direct mail service that allows small businesses to market to specific ZIP codes and neighborhoods.
