Andre Drummond Teams Up With Halo Burger

Flint's iconic Halo Burger teamed up with Pistons's Andre Drummond! The result? A partnership and burger made in burger heaven.

Halo Burger recently partnered with Detroit Pistons Center and NBA superstar Andre Drummond. Drummond is the first-ever spokesperson for the iconic 93 year old Flint-based burger joint. Brought together by the love of the game and a deep committment to the Flint, MI commnity, the Halo/Drummond partnership could be called.....Heavenly.

A Slam Dunk!

Andre (aka, Dre) is not only a Halo fan, he’s a ‘hands on’ kind of guy, and he wanted to create his own exclusive burger or at least take his best shot. In mid-February, Andre, with the help of Chance Richie (CEO, Halo Country LLC), and several members of the Halo team, came together to ‘build-a-burger.’ “It was a lot of fun, and we’re just so pleased to have Andre on board with us,” explains Richie with a smile. “Just to be clear, it was Dre who insisted on the burger, and after watching him in action, he’s a natural,” continues Richie. “He came in and he got right to work… he experimented a little bit, added and subtracted a few different flavors until he had created a truly personal flavor profile. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure how it was going to come out, but man…in the end, he created a great burger. We think the Dre Burger is a slam dunk for Halo!”

So…what exactly is a DRE BURGER?

Imagine a burger where you don’t have to choose. A perfect combination of flavor, each hand-selected by Dre himself. The Dre Burger is as big as it sounds with not one, but two of Halo’s fresh, never frozen, all-beef patties and some exotic burger toppings. Now add savory bacon strips, two slices of melted American cheese, a raw onion ring, a mix of Halo’s Secret Sauce with BBQ sauce, and put it all on a fresh-baked sesame seed bun…then it starts to get REALLY interesting. Andre tops it off with grilled pineapple, and a crispy onion ring. Now it’s a veritable taste bud tour de force….introducing the Dre Burger!

To celebrate the launch of the Dre Burger, Halo will donate $1 for each Dre Burger sold in May of 2017 to the Special Olympics of Flint. They will also host a kick-off celebration on May 6th at the Fenton location on Leroy. The celebration, open to the public, will include free Dre Burgers for the first 100 to show up, a special appearance by Andre Drummond (dropping some doubles and spinning tunes – that’s right, DJ Dre will be in the house), games, bounce houses and more family fun activities. There will also be a special basketball clinic with Andre and the kids participating from Special Olympics Flint. May 6th, 1-3 at the Leroy Street Halo location in Fenton.

“I love Halo burgers and Chance and I agreed that we should do something different – something that really has my stamp on it,” says Andre Drummond. “Early reactions have been pretty good. Everyone seems to like the burger; it’s big and the toppings are all things I enjoy eating. Maybe I have a second career, someday…” laughs Drummond as he leans toward the grill. “Seriously, Halo has been super supportive, and we have so much more planned in the community,” continues Andre Drummond. “I’m really excited about this partnership and my new burger. But I’m really most excited about my involvement with the Special Olympics of Flint, and glad we’re able to help out.”

The relationship between Halo Burger and Mr. Drummond evolved out of mutual admiration, a shared love of Halo Burgers & Boston Coolers, mutual love of the game of basketball, and a genuine desire to build and maintain strong ties with the community. Drummond will not only help promote the Halo brand, he will actively assist with ongoing community outreach initiatives in Flint, Detroit and across much of SE Michigan. The partnership will also include charity events, appearances, endorsements, and, of course, the Dre Burger, exclusive to Halo Burger restaurants.

“We’re in the burger business, but we’re really in the people business - being good citizens first. That means looking out for each other and helping the people we serve in our local communities. Andre’s involvement in the region and our commitment to constant improvement means we can do more together – for Flint, for Detroit, and SE Michigan,” explains Richie. “That’s the goal, and we’re also going to have some fun along the way.”
