An Evening Meal at Fenton House

A brief description of a local dining experience. If you're looking for some great food and service this is a restaurant to visit.

was founded in 1987 by Ken and Liz Nevells. They opened for a take-out only at first, but the in 1993 decided to convert the entire building into a full serve family restaurant.

The family has a long history of serving good food. Liz's grandparents, George and Ella Mitchell, started the original Mitch’s Tavern. Liz's parents, Tom and Despina Nicholas, opened the Highland House in 1976. Ken opened up Gus's Restaurant in Howell in 1981.

I found myself this evening looking for a dinner venue in the downtown area.  I decided on Fenton House.  I hadn't been there in a while so I figured it to be a wise choice.  I was not the only person on this Tuesday evening to decide to dine there.  The place was full with the exception of one booth.  I was lucky, I was next in the line.  I ordered some breadsticks (a must have) and proceeded to peruse the menu.  I decided on a good old faithful item.  I ordered nachos.  While I waited I asked a waitress about wi-fi (yes they have it for you to use) and caught up on very little before my food arrived.  They were great!  I was pleased with my pick.  My waiter was great.  The only drawback I would say that it was loud, as the evening progressed it did empty out and quiet down.  In my opinion, everyone seemed to be enjoying their food (I checked, got out of my seat two times so I could look around).  If you find yourself debating about where to go for dinner definitely put Fenton House on your list of options.
