Lake Fenton Class of 2013 Top Ten
Lake Fenton High School proudly announces the Top Ten students in the Class of 2013.
Alexander Bowden, son of Ellen and Bradley Bowden, is Valedictorian of the class of 2013. Alexander has been a student representative on the Lake Fenton Board of Education for two years, a member of the National Honor Society for three years and a Student Council representative during his senior year. He has earned awards for his service on the Lake Fenton School Board, Top 10 in his class for four years and for Academic Honors for all four years. He also received the College Writing award in his junior year and the World History award in his sophomore year. Alexander has been accepted into the Honors Program at the University of Michigan-Flint where he plans to advance his music career and prepare to transfer to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor to enter into the field of Orthodontics.
Morgan Wolfe, daughter of Jamie Wolfe and Jason Wolfe, is co-Salutatorian of the class of 2013. Morgan has participated in dance for six years, earning the distinction of National Dance Association Champion in 2011. She is a member of Key Club and has been dual-enrolled at Mott Community College during her senior year. Morgan has received an academic scholarship to Eastern Michigan University where she plans to pursue a career in the medical field.
Emma Kusnier, daughter of Michelle and John Kusnier, is co-Salutatorian of the class of 2013. A member of National Honor Society, Emma served as Treasurer her senior year. She has also served as Treasurer for Student Council from 2009-10. Emma has been involved in varsity soccer for two years and junior varsity basketball for two years. She was recently awarded the USF Green & Gold Director’s Award Scholarship. Emma plans to attend the University of South Florida to become a biomedical engineer with an emphasis on designing artificial limbs.

Alexis Rosario, daughter of Tonya and Edward Rosario, is third in the class of 2013. Alexis has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years, both Student Council and Key Club for one year, Young Life for three years and a Habitat for Humanity volunteer for two years. She participated in Marching Band for three years, serving as a Color Guard leader her junior year. Alexis competed in varsity track for one year and has also been on varsity cheer for four years, serving as captain in her junior year. Alexis plans to attend the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor School of Nursing and continuing her education to become a nurse anesthetist.
Laila Abdallah, daughter of Fares and Sahar Abdallah, is fourth in the class of 2013. Laila has been involved in National Honor Society for two years and has been a member of Key Club for three years, serving as vice-president for one year. Laila has received a scholarship from the Arab-American Heritage Council which she will use to attend Michigan State University where she plans to pursue her career as a pediatrician.

Arika Kujawa, daughter of Linda Kujawa, and Raymond and Tamara Kujawa, is fifth in the class of 2013. Arika Has been a member of National Honor Society for three years, Key Club for three years and on Student Council for four years serving as secretary for two of those years. She has also participated in track for three years and Marching Band for four years, serving as a Color Guard Section Leader for two years. In addition, Arika has coached handicapped children in cheerleading and kept stats for the wrestling team. Receiving an Emerald Scholarship, she plans to attend Eastern Michigan University majoring in Special Ediucation.
Jennifer Steyer, daughter of Judith and Timothy Steyer, is sixth in the class of 2013. Jennifer has been a member of National Honor Society for three years, serving as secretary during her senior year. She has been a member of Marching Band for five years, serving as Drum Major for two years and Concert Band for four years. Jennifer also participated in track for one year as a co-captain. In addition to team sports, she has also been a gymnast for 13 years. Jennifer plans to attend Trine University to major in education and coach gymnastics.
Meredith Herman, daughter of Amy and Marvin Herman, is seventh in the class of 2013. Meredith is a member of National Honor Society, serving as president her senior year, and was on Honor Roll for all four years. She participated in cross country for one year, tennis for four years and Marching Band for five years, serving as Drum Major her senior year. She has also been a member of the University of Michigan-Flint Honor Band for the past two years. Receiving the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship, Meredith plans to attend Michigan State University in the pre-Optometry program, where she will participate in the Spartan Marching Band. She plans to transfer to Ferris State University to earn her Doctorate of Optometry.
Catrina Parks , daughter of Heather and Jeff Durling, and Nick Parks, is eighth in the class of 2013. Catrina has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. She has participated in softball and cross country, each for one year, and in track for one year, earning her varsity letter. She has also been a member of Marching Band for all four years, earning another letter. Catrina plans to attend Michigan State University to become a veterinarian.
Daniel Dale, son of Denise Dale, is ninth in the class of 2013. Daniel has received the Top Ten award in both his freshman and senior years. He spent time volunteering at Hurley Hospital in 2011. He plans to attend Mott Community College for a year, transferring to Michigan State University to study in the field of Video Game Design.
Cameron Bentz, son of Keri and Stephen Chestnut, and Rodney and Laura Bentz, is tenth in the class of 2013. Cameron has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years. He also played football during his freshman year. Cameron plans to enlist in the U. S. Air Force to eventually become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
