3 People Hospitalized After Erratic Driver Leads Police Chase, Crashes

Three people transported to hospital after car crashes into utility pole in Fenton.

Rescue crews transported three people to the hospital after a crash during a police chase in Fenton.

Around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, a white 2006 Ford four-door was seen driving north erratically on Fenway Drive. A officer turned around to investigate, and the Ford accelerated northbound on Fenway Drive, refusing to stop for the fully marked patrol car with emergency lights and siren activated, said Fenton Police Chief Rick Aro.

Police observed turning east on Silver Lake Road, continuing east until the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole on Silver Lake Road near Lincoln Street, Aro said.

Silver Lake Road was closed for about an hour while officers completed their investigation and Consumers Power cleared downed electrical wires, Aro said.

The 20-year-old driver and passengers, ages 19 and 20, were transported to a hospital for treatment, where they are currently in stable condition, Aro stated.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, and the accident remains under investigation, he said.
