Students will learn popular rock- and blues-style playing, using a graphical display of the keyboard as opposed to just written notation. Written notation will be introduced but will not get the complete focus as in the "classical" approach. Students will learn songs using "block" chords and repetitive patterns that occur in many popular songs. The use of MIDI (musical instrument digital interface — the way keyboards communicate with computers and other devices) can be covered.
