Fenton Police Investigating Two Break-ins

Business owner finds nothing missing; rifles and other items taken from a home.

are investigating two recent break-ins, one at a business and another at a private home.

Business owner reports breaking and entering

Police were dispatched to the ABC Back and Neck Care in the 3000 block of Silver Lake Road at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, for a report of a breaking and entering, said Chief of Police Rick Aro. Officers met with the business owner, a 40-year-old Fenton resident, who had placed the call to the police station. The business owner found nothing missing at the time, Aro said.

The business was closed the night before and locked, and the suspect or suspects entered by breaking a window adjacent to the front door and then using the door, police reported. Officers found the handle of the rear door was tampered with and broken off, and it does not appear anyone entered through the back, Aro said.

Police found evidence at the scene, which is being checked for fingerprints, he said. Police have no estimate of the damage at this time.

Homeowner reports rifles stolen

A second break-in occurred in the 14000 block of Blue Heron Drive in Fenton, which officers responded to around 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, Aro said. The homeowner, 74, had been gone for about a week and returned to find his house had been gone through, with several items were missing.

The homeowner reported a 270-caliber bolt action rifle and a 50-caliber black powder rifle were missing, along with some other sporting goods equipment, police reported. The total value of the missing items is about $1,000, Aro said.
Police found no sign of forced entry, and the homeowner said he must have forgotten to lock his house when he left, according to the police report.

Officers contacted the man's neighbors for information on any suspicious activity they might have seen, and one neighbor said she saw a white female driving a red minivan stopping at the house more than once and going inside, Aro said. The possible suspect was seen leaving the home, carrying items with her.

The homeowner believes he knows the woman who was seen driving the vehicle, Aro said. Officers interviewed her, and she denied taking items. The case will be turned over to Fenton police detectives for more investigation, he said.
