First-ever Midnight Practice for Lake Fenton a Success
Blue Devils football team kicked off season with a midnight practice Monday.
While the football team opened its practice schedule this week with for the fourth year in a row, this was the first time tried the event, which is growing in popularity around the state as a way for schools to kick off their season and get their communities excited.
Based on the turnout, it might be a tradition the Blue Devils will continue as well.
"This is the first time that we have done this," said coach Eric Doyle. "I ran it by the kids, and they seemed to be excited for it. The turnout was really good, the energy was great."

Before the team got into the heavy part of its practice schedule this week, Doyle used the midnight practice as a way for the team leaders to set the tone of the type of intensity expected in practice.
"We just tried to do some team-building-type drills that our older kids could lead and our younger kids could see the intensity level that we try to instill at the high school level," Doyle said.

The Blue Devils have that has included a lot of conditioning work and participating in a 7-on-7 passing league.
Lake Fenton opens its season against Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard at 2 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Big Day Prep Showdown at Eastern Michigan University.
