There's a tentative agreement in the works to preserve and improve Belle Isle as a state park, an Oakland Press story reports. The city of Detroit will keep ownership of Belle Isle, with the state and Department of Natural Resources leasing the land for 30 years. It needs the approval of Detroit City Council.

The Beach Body Shape Up is coming to Lake Fenton Middle School, 11425 Torrey Rd. in Fenton, at 7:30 p.m. today. It features interval and strength training, along with some Zumba for cardio and pilates for lean muscle. Participants should bring a set of hand weights and water and wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. The cost for a resident in the district is $40 for a package of lessons.
5. Looking Ahead
is hosting a beer and wine tasting event from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The cost is $20 per person, and the event will be at the Fenton Winery & Brewery, 1545 N. Leroy St. in Fenton. In addition to sampling micro-brewed beers and hand-crafted wines, participants can try for raffle prizes.
