Participants will engage in conversation, food and a tour of the farm. They will hear from Forgotten Harvest CEO Kirk Mayes and other leaders in the hunger-relief sector. They will also hear the story of Forgotten Harvest, which was founded by Dr. Nancy Fishman after her own family’s experience with food-insecurity. Attendees will learn more about issues and challenges related to fresh food access for families in various areas of metro Detroit. Fishman will be providing each attendee a signed copy of her book (second edition), “Eight Lessons I Learned in the Corners of the Field: The Story of Forgotten Harvest.”
Other activities include a silent auction, a farm-fresh lunch (provided by The Laundry of Fenton, Michigan) and networking. Guests will learn more about the farm’s focus this year on growing “nutrient dense” foods like broccoli, peppers, kale, lettuce, corn, beans, squash, collards, carrots and zucchini. These foods are either unavailable or unaffordable to many recipients in need.

“This year’s Women’s Harvest Lunch theme is ‘25 Years and Growing’ in commemoration of our 25th anniversary,” Mayes said. “Our work is ‘Far From Done,’ so events like this help us to spread the word and help to grow our mission of fighting hunger in metro Detroit.”
Tickets are on sale now at $100 each. Sponsorship opportunities are also available beginning at $500. To learn more about the Women’s Harvest Lunch or to purchase tickets, visit bit.ly/1e8JGYQ.
