Fenton Roads to be Closed for Patrick O'Rourke's Funeral

Tyrone Township resident and West Bloomfield Police officer Patrick O'Rourke will be remembered with services at St. John's Catholic Church Friday.

Funeral arrangements have been made for 39, of Fenton, and several roads will be closed in Fenton during services.

O'Rourke passed away in the line of duty on Sunday. He was a 12-year veteran of the who was killed by a barricaded gunman.

Fenton City Council observed a moment of silence for him on Monday.

"He was a wonderful family man, and we do give our condolences to the family," said Mayor Sue Osborn.

O'Rourke was married to Amy and they have four children, Eileen, Mary, Andrea and Stephen, his obituary said.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Rd., Highland. A rosary service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

O'Rourke will lie in state at St. John's Catholic Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Rite of commital will be in St. John's Cemetery, Fenton. More information is available at www.eltonblackandsonhighland.com

Road closure planned

Because of the large number of law enforcement, other emergency personnel and dignitaries in attendance traffic routes will be changed during the time near the service, the city of Fenton has announced.

Friday, beginning at 7 a.m., all traffic on Adelaide between Silver Lake Road and North Road will be closed. Lincoln Street, Jefferson Street and Wood Street will also be closed. Traffic in the area will re-open beginning at 1 p.m.

Uniform officers are asked to begin arriving at 8:30 a.m. and all attending vehicles will be directed to designated parking and staging areas.
