Hey Linden, there's some new girls in town

For the first time known of in Linden History, Linden has a ladies based veteran and community support organization. The newly formed American Legion Auxiliary is a companion unit to Linden’s already active American Legion Post 119. The American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization.

Although they do not have a post home both the American Legion Post 119 and the American Legion Auxiliary 119 normally meet at the Linden Masonic Temple each month.

Founded in 1919, The American Legion Auxiliary has nearly 1 million members from all walks of life. They include the wives, sisters, mothers, grandmothers and granddaughters of American Legion Post members. The Auxiliary is also proud to include female veterans who are also eligible to join the Post. The Auxiliary administrats hundreds of volunteer programs, gives tens of thousands of hours to its communities and to veterans, and raises millions of dollars to support its own programs, as well as other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. It is all accomplished with volunteers.

While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary’s interests have broadened to encompass the entire community.

Charter members are, Sharron Rundell, Sharon Paulin, Betty Smith, Pat Lozano, Carol Maciejewski, Shawn Lopez, Sharon Maxwell, Mary Jo Hughes, Margaret Dolan, Diana Ward, Pat Coluccelli, and Angela Thorpe.
