Lions Offer Free Eye and Diabetes Screening

The Fenton Lions Club is offering free eye screenings for children and adults, ages 1-5 at the upcoming Fenton Expo this weekend.  There are two separate machines available:  a specialized eye camera for children ages 1-5 and a new Titmus machine for ages 5-adult.  The specialized eye camera can detect potential eye problems immediately, and if any are found, a referral will be given to parents to take to their eye doctor.  The Lions will follow up with the family to make sure the child has been checked by a doctor.

The Lions will also offer free diabetes screening by a registered nurse from the Diabetic Foundation of Michigan.  The nurse will be available both days.  The screening helps prevent diabetic retinopathy (diabetic blindness).  This is not part of the Titmus machine screening.
