Missouri Chapter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation Awarded Donation by the St. Louis Region, Porsche Club of America

The St. Louis Region, Porsche Club of America (STLPCA) has awarded a donation to the Missouri Chapter of the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) in the amount of $2,319.00, from proceeds the Club has realized in recent fund raising activities to support CTF’s Racing4Research™ program.

The Children's Tumor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide living with neurofibromatosis (NF), a term for three distinct disorders: NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis. NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and can lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities, and excruciating and disabling pain. It affects one in every 3,000 people, more than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington’s disease combined.

Since 2008, the St. Louis Region, Porsche Club of America has embraced CTF’s Racing4Research™ program, which closely aligns the Club’s passion for Porsches and racing.  Developed by the Children’s Tumor Foundation, the Racing4Research™ (R4R) program utilizes competitive, professional auto racing as a vehicle to increase awareness of neurofibromatosis and raise funds for research through corporate sponsorship, personal donations, and individual fundraising by NF Heroes: children and adults from around the country who live with neurofibromatosis.  The Racing4Research™program offers children and families living with the disorder a uniquely empowering weekend, and has raised more than $2 million dollars since its inception five years ago.
