Poyner Quietly Striving for State Title
Meet Lake Fenton senior Buddy Poyner and learn about his love of wrestling.

Buddy Poyner doesnβt say much.Β The Lake Fenton seniorβs only sport is wrestling. His pre-match routine is βpretty lazy.β
However, donβt let his quiet demeanor fool you.

Heβs ranked No. 2 in Division 3 at 125 pounds, recently won an individual regional crown and has dreams of winning a state championship, but you wonβt find Poyner talking any trash about the matter.
βIβm hoping for a state title,β he said. βThatβs what Iβd like.β

Poyner, who wrestled at Fenton High School as a freshman and sophomore, transferred to Lake Fenton or his junior as senior years.
He has placed third twice and seventh once in the individual state wrestling finals.
βHeβs as solid and as focused as they come,β said Lake Fenton coach Vance Corcoran.
Poyner has also won four straight league titles, two in the Metro League and two in the Genesee Area Conference.
βIt was cool winning them all,β he said. βIt all gets me ready for the end of the year.β
Poyner said the competitive juices are flowing and heβs ready for the challenge.
βWe are starting to get really pumped,β Poyner said.

College plans? Β Undecided, I want to wrestle somewhere though.
