Three-Car Accident Results in No Major Injuries

Children, ages 2 and 5, involved in crash, seatbelts might have saved them from more serious fates.

A three-car pileup on Silver Lake Road by Marl Drive at 11:11 a.m. on Friday resulted in no serious injuries, thanks to everyone wearing seatbelts.

A resident of the 4000 block of Silver Lake Road was stopped to make a left turn into the driveway, said Deputy D. Curtis of the Genesee County Sheriff's Department. A Linden woman, in her 70s and driving a Yukon, also was headed west. The woman did not appear to see the stopped vehicle, witnesses told police.

Approaching the stopped Dodge Caravan that was waiting to turn left into its driveway, the second driver tried to use the road shoulder to go around the Caravan but hit its back right corner. A car went spinning into the eastbound lane, hitting an oncoming third vehicle, which then flipped and slid.

Injuries were minor, but two small children, ages 2 and 5, in the vehicle that flipped over were taken to a hospital to be checked out, Curtis said. The family, including the mother, who was driving, are from Linden.

All of the people involved were wearing seatbelts, which was an important factor in no one being seriously hurt, he said.
