14 Arrested in Busy Weekend for Ferndale Police
Weed wacker and pop can thefts, high-speed chase and traffic stop ending in gun charges among weekend activity.

FERNDALE, MI – A Detroit man accused of breaking into a Ferndale manufacturer and stealing 269 returnable cans and bottles was among 14 people arrested during a busy weekend, Ferndale police said.
In two other cases, a police chase reached speeds of 60 mph in a residential area, and the driver of an unlicensed, uninsured Jaguar was arrested on gun violations.
Eric Bruce Oldham, 51, of Detroit, was carrying the large bag of refundable cans and bottles when police arrived at the business, 821 Wanda Avenue, at 12:03 a.m. Monday, according to a news release.

When officers arrested him, he tried to hide a small bag of marijuana in his mouth, police said.

Witnesses at Gage Products called police after they saw Oldham allegedly crawl under a fence onto the property, open a rolling garage door and steal a weed wacker, police said.

Oldham was on parole for a breaking and entering conviction, and was also wanted as a parole absconder, according to the release.
Charges are pending.
Police Chase
A police chase reached speeds of 60 mph on a residential street with a 25 mph speed limit around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after a Ferndale officer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Eugene Montez Conley, 33, of Detroit, on Eight Mile Road, the release said.
The officer pursuing Conley caught up with him and placed him under arrest. Police said he has “an extensive criminal history with many felony convictions,” and that his driver’s license is suspended.
No CPL for 9mm
Elaine Marie Parker, 49, of Detroit was arrested around 9 p.m. Friday after police discovered she didn’t have a license to carry to loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol found on the floorboard of her unlicensed, uninsured Jaguar, according to police.
Police discovered her weapon after stopping and impounding the car on an expired license violation.
Parker was held overnight on charges of carrying a concealed pistol without a license and released on a personal bond after he arraignment Saturday, police said.
