23rd annual Women's Power Breakfast
"Being a strong woman is very important to me. But doing it all on my own is not." - Reba McEntire
Southeastern Michigan’s premier social and charitable event returns to Detroit on Thursday, April 21st when the 23rd annual Women’s Power Breakfast (WPB) to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan (Gleaners) will bring over 600 of metro Detroit’s powerful female business, civic and community leaders together at Detroit Eastern Market’s Shed 3.
Women’s Power Breakfast co-chairs Faye Nelson, DTE Energy/DTE Energy Foundation, Andra Rush of Rush Trucking Corporation and Henry Ford Health Systems’ Nancy Schlichting invite guests to enjoy unparalleled networking, a simple breakfast and an inspirational program that always leaves patrons awed by the need and inspired to help Gleaners continue its essential work.
Last year’s WPB saw a jump in attendance to more than 600 guests and proceeds from the Women’s Power Happy Hour and Women’s Power Breakfast allowed Gleaners to provide over 1.2 million meals to hungry children.

The WPB supports Gleaners’ goal of providing one million meals to hungry children in southeast Michigan through its Million Meal Match campaign. Normally, $1 provides three meals, but during the Million Meal Match, $1 provides SIX meals for hungry children across southeast Michigan thanks to Title Sponsor PNC Bank and other generous match donors.

One in four Michigan children live in poverty and more than one third of children in Detroit are living in extreme poverty. Michigan’s unemployment rate has dropped since the recession, but 50% of Michigan households served by food banks have at least one employed family member and 83% of Michigan households are food insecure.
Women’s Power Breakfast tickets are $120 (Intermediate tickets are $85 for guests 35 and under). The Women’s Power Breakfast has grown to become metro Detroit’s “can’t-miss” events of the year. Guests are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets quickly as the annual breakfast sells out quickly.
