5 Things to Know This Week: State of City Address, Ferndale Police vs. Schools Dodgeball and More

Get ready for the week ahead in Ferndale with these five things to know.

The Ferndale City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. View the agenda here.

2. on Thursday

The State of the City Address by Mayor Dave Coulter will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at Valentine Distilling. Coulter will provide updates on the city since taking office a year ago and will discuss the city's business-friendly initiatives as it becomes One Stop Ready. The Eagles Pledge presents a Dodgeball Showdown, pairing the Ferndale High School staff and administration (led by captain FHS Principal Herb Ivory) against the Ferndale Police (led by captain Chief Tim Collins).

This event is open to the public and is scheduled for Thursday, March 29 in the  gym beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 per adult and $3 per student. This event benefits the Eagles Pledge - find more information here.

4. at Loving Touch

A fundraiser will be held on Thursday at the bar and pool hall to raise money for Jessica Johnson's transplant fund. Buy a $10 wristband at the door, which gets you drink specials and free pool from 7-10 p.m. Jessica, 33, was born with cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening genetic disease has left her with only 30 percent to 40 percent of her normal lung capacity, and she will continue to lose lung capacity until she passes away - or gets a transplant.
