Recently, my friend Courtney and I were invited to experience Alchemy, which is a life-style boutique and spa offering facials, henna, handmade goods and atelier workshops. During our visit, Courtney and I experienced a workshop where we created our own botanical perfume using the art of blending plant essences. This experience was totally out of the ordinary and is not only educational but also encourages relaxation and creativity.
Alchemy is located on the third floor of the historic Ferndale Center Building. The is a large parking lot behind the building that charges $1 per hour and there is also plenty of street parking. Once you enter the building, take the elevator up to the third floor and make a left, then Alchemy is on your left hand side.
Alchemy offers a variety of services, events and even private parties. Facials range from $60-$90, henna starts at $20 and atelier workshops are $75. They also have special themed events which they post on their Facebook page.

Our atelier workshop was about an hour long and we learned so much about our connection with different aromas and what scents we were drawn to. We each created our own unique bottle of botanical perfume and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we truly enjoyed the experience.
As soon as I entered Alchemy I could feel myself relax. The beautiful aroma of essential oils that fills the air made me breath deeper and slow down. Courtney and I could have stayed for hours looking at the handmade jewelry, oils and soaps. Monique, the owner of Alchemy, is passionate, kind and extremely knowledgable about every service she offers. We can’t wait to return to experience everything Alchemy has to offer.
