Man Leads Police Chase, Crashes Into Oakland County Store: Prosecutors

Prosecutors said the man was driving with a suspended license, did not have auto insurance and was wanted on outstanding warrants.

FERNDALE, MI — A man has been charged in connection with a police chase that ended in a crash at an Oakland County store last week, according to prosecutors.

Emad Rehman, 26, of Garden City, was charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding police and driving with a suspended license. He was placed in jail with a $5,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for May 8.

Rehman was driving white Tesla Model 3 last Friday when he sped through a red traffic light in Royal Oak, prosecutors said.

Officers chased the car as it weaved in and out of traffic, prosecutors said.

Rehman eventually lost control of the car and crashed into a Verizon mobile phone store at the corner of Lewiston and Woodward in Ferndale, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Rehman was driving with a suspended license, did not have auto insurance and was wanted on outstanding warrants.

"It's fortunate this incident ended without any injuries," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. "The defendant's alleged actions recklessly endangered countless motorists and damaged a business."
