The child was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police.

Police did not release the child's age or gender, or clarify the extent of the juvenile's injuries.

A person of interest has been arrested in connection with the incident, police confirmed late Monday. They also said investigators have seized a vehicle, which they believe was used in the incident.

Police are still investigating the crash and asked anyone who knows something to contact the Michigan State Police Metro North Post.

"Even the smallest detail could help move this investigation forward," police said in a statement.
