Oakland County Brewery To Close Down This Year

OAK PARK, MI — Oak Park's Unexpected Craft Brewing Company is shutting down soon.

Owners Martha and Edward Stencel announced the closing as they plan to retire. They didn't say exactly when the brewery would close down, only that it will close "toward the end of this year."

"The time has come to close this chapter and pursue some new adventures," reads their announcement posted to social media. "To each and every one of you who has been part of this amazing chapter in our lives — thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!"

Unexpected Craft Brewing Company opened at 14401 W. 11 Mile in Oak Park in 2021, making it one of the city's first breweries.

For now, Unexpected is open from 4-10 p.m. Tues.-Thurs., 4-11 p.m. Fri., 2-11 p.m. Sat. and 3-7 p.m. Sun.
