Transportation funding is currently the hot topic in Lansing, but the discussion shouldn’t just be about funding for roads. Ferndale Mayor Pro Tem Melanie Piana was among the guests talking about transportation on the most recent Prosperity Agenda radio show on News/Talk 760 WJR.
The show already aired but you can listen to it anytime at the Michigan Municipal League’s website or by subscribing to the FREE iTunes podcast.
For the February radio show, host Dan Gilmartin, CEO of the Michigan Municipal League, and his guests discussed transportation funding in the larger context of what it can mean for Michigan's economic turnaround. Piana, in particular, focused on what an improved public transit system in southeast Michigan can mean for Ferndale and the surrounding area.
"We're moving in the right direction and that's a good thing for Ferndale, for the region and for the City of Detroit," Piana said. "... Transit drives development. For Ferndale and the communities along Woodward we're looking to improve business retention, attraction and drive new investment and grown entrepreneurs. One way you do that is through transit investment."
