Report: Armed Robbery, Larceny Reports Falsified to Cover Up Drug Deal Scam
Suspect in deal gone bad and false report filers arrested.

It turns out that were falsified to cover up a drug deal gone bad, which was also perpetrated by the same person, according to Ferndale Police.
Tuesday, Ferndale Police took a report from a 17-year-old Oak Park resident in which he said someone stole his cell phone and $20 near the West Nine Mile bus stop on the south side of the street. Two days later, Ferndale Police took a report from a Ferndale couple that claimed someone had used a gun and robbed them of their money near a Shell gas station at 1100 Eight Mile Road. This couple also filed a report just two hours earlier with the Detroit Police that they were robbed at a Valero just across the street.
Both reports were false, Ferndale Police are telling the Daily Tribune. Both incidents were drug deals gone bad and perpetrated by the same person, police said.

“After interviewing these alleged victims it turns out these were dope deal rip-offs, not random on-street robberies,” Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson told the Tribune. “The so-called victims were scammed out of money trying to buy marijuana.”
The Tribune reported Ferndale Police arrested the suspect involved in the drug deal scam. The police also arrested the two parties involved in falsifying police reports, which is a misdemeanor.
