Baker College's Allen Park campus to hold free safety awareness event June 30

Federal, state and local entities offer best practices of avoiding crime and tips to ensure health. Great for families, youth groups.

Two Baker College student clubs will host a Safety Awareness Day, 3-7 p.m., Thursday, June 30, at the Baker College Allen Park campus, 4500 Enterprise Drive, in the Student Center and adjacent parking lot.

Representatives from approximately 12 federal, state and local public safety organizations will provide information for attendees to learn about trending crimes and ways to prevent crime and accidents. The public is invited to this free event.

The Baker College Law & Order Student Group, which supports the campus’ criminal justice and paralegal programs, is taking the lead in organizing the event with assistance from R.I.S.E., the student club supporting the campus’ human services programs. R.I.S.E. stands for Realizing Individual Strengths and Efforts.

“Personal and community safety are key elements in a free society, and this event is a great way to share knowledge and expertise with the public,” said June Rogers, Ph.D., Baker College of Allen Park criminal justice program director. “This was an excellent idea suggested by our Baker College students who want to provide community service in the areas of expertise for their planned professions.

“The event will also provide learning and networking opportunities for the students – both goals of the student clubs.”
