Here's the Latest on Ferndale High School Threat

FERNDALE, MI – A threat made against Ferndale High School in a phone all Monday morning apparently was a hoax, the school district said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

The district said:
“This morning Ferndale High School received a non-specific threatening phone call. The Ferndale Police Department was immediately contacted and assessed the situation. The police secured the building while they investigated and found that there was no valid threat against the campus. The school has since resumed normal operations.

“All threats to our school or students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We wanted you to have the facts so you can discuss them with your child and emphasize the seriousness of this issue. Our number one priority is the safety and security of our students. We also want to clearly communicate with parents and be transparent about safety issues when they arise.”

Ferndale police are reportedly investigating a threat at Ferndale High School and have deployed a K-9 unit, according to reports.
WDIV-TV assignment editor Chuck Jackson tweeted the information Monday morning.
In nearby Livingston County, Howell High School was closed after a student reportedly received a threat on Twitter to “shoot your school up,” according to a post on the school district’s website.
The Michigan State Police agency is investigating.
