Cats That Survived 'Firebombing' Desperately Need Foster Homes

Fire in home where up to 40 cats lived spread so quickly authorities think it was deliberately set.

FERNDALE, MI – Two cats that survived a suspected arson fire in Detroit that claimed the lives of as many as three dozen felines are in “desperate” need of foster care, the Ferndale Cat Shelter says.

The cats, Ramsey and Blaze, are recovering from smoke inhalation after surviving what Ferndale Cat Shelter Facebook administrators described in a post as “a firebombing.”

“This breaks my (heart) more than anything,” Tonya Rae McKamey commented. “Just imagining these poor helpless kitties in a hell fire. Please catch the murderous monster that torched the home of these beloved kitties.”

A woman who reportedly keeps about 30 to 40 cats at the home on Barlow Street on detroit’s east side reported the fire about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, WDIV-TV reports. Smoke was pouring from the home, and the woman was unable to save any of her pets, according to the report.

Only a few of the cats survived, according to the TV station.

Detroit police told the TV station that the fire spread so quickly they believe it was deliberately set.
