Downtown Ferndale Businesses Chopping Prices This Weekend

The three-day Indoor Sidewalk Sale keys off the success of Small Business Saturday sales held last November.

FERNDALE, MI — As they prepare to replace winter merchandise with items suitable for spring and summer, more than 20 downtown Ferndale retail businesses are offering special deals Friday-Sunday, Feb. 17-19, as part of the Indoor Sidewalk Sale. The sales key off the success of Small Business Saturday sales in November, and are designed to remind residents to consider local businesses before going to a big-box or mall store.

The participating businesses sell bicycles, clothing, candles, comic books and records; include services such as tattooing; and include places to stop and grab a bite, according to the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority’s Facebook page.

Cindy Willcock, operations manager of the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority, told The Daily Tribune, that 70 cents on every dollar spent in a local community are reinvested in the community. In Ferndale, the money may go even farther.

“We also have a philanthropic business community in Ferndale and they invest and give back to a wide range of things in the city,” Willcock told the newspaper.
