Voters are also deciding a couple of ballot measures.

A proposed amendment to the charter would modify the nominating deadline and process for counting nominating petitions in which a votr signs more petitions than the number of candidates to be elected.

Ferndale Public Schools are asking for reauthorization of a levy on non-homestad property (such as industrial, commercial and rental properties) that had been reduced by the Headlee Amendment. The proposal would continue the $20 per $1,000 taxable valuation already in place, raising $4,073,000 for the school district in 2016.

Taxes would not increase.
