I miss my mom! Every day I wake
up with a void in my life and think about life without cancer. Supporting the mission of Susan G. Komen has become my passion. I need to help find the cure
for breast cancer and I need your help in doing so! Please…
On 1/11/12 we are hosting a fundraiser for the late Jean Vuichard
(Stamper). Sadly, Jean lost her battle with breast cancer about two months ago
on 10/14/11 at age 46. Breast cancer took her away from us and now we want to
take breast cancer away from everyone. Please help us raise money for Susan G.
Komen for the CURE! 1/11/12 would be her 47th birthday.
This event will be happening
all day on 1/11/12 (with the main event and program between 5-9pm...but people
can come anytime). Rosie O’Grady’s will donate 10% of sales to Susan G. Komen.
We will have prizes, items for sale and specials.

JEAN’S STORY:
Breast cancer took my mother
from us, but before it could take her life it took everything else. Let me tell
you a little about her story. My mom was 44 when she was diagnosed with cancer,
but for weeks the doctors could not find where the cancer started. The only
reason they knew she had cancer was due to the fact she had pain under her arm
and from that pain they found the cancer in her lymph nodes. Finally, they
discovered that it was triple negative breast cancer, but the cancer was
located so far back in the breast wall it was undetectable on a mammogram. Once
the doctors were able to locate the primary location of the cancer a plan of
attack was formed. My mom then had the lymph nodes removed, started
chemotherapy and radiation. I still to this day admire how brave she was during
this time in her battle.
There came a point where we
thought we won, the cancer in the breast was somewhat managed, but that feeling
was short lived. My family and I started to notice that mom was a little off,
speech a little slurred and her balance unsteady. We knew something was really
wrong and sure enough the cancer had spread to the brain and she had
hydrocephalus (water on the brain). This is when the cancer really took over my
poor 45 year old mother's body. The cancer in the brain was located on the
brainstem which is an area the doctors are not able to operate on, so mom
started more chemotherapy, trial dugs and radiation. During this time, her life
became more complicated. Her eyes closed, vision was off, her balance was
unsteady which lead to becoming wheelchair bound and her voice was mumbled then
eventually went away. She also lost her fine motor skills and ability to take
care of herself. Two and a half years into her battle, breast cancer won and on
10/14/11, at 46 my mother was taken from us. I am telling our story because
breast cancer started her battle and I plan to finish it. Breast cancer is more
than people think, it truly can take everything away and take it away fast! We
need to raise money and spread awareness. Please help in any way you can,
please!
