Ferndale Couple Catch Alleged Thief In Act: Police
Noises disturbed a sleeping couple about 2:40 a.m. An intruder was in the house, allegedly detaching gaming equipment from a TV.

FERNDALE, MI – A Ferndale couple awoke to noises in their home on College Street about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday to find an intruder in their home allegedly trying to steal gaming equipment, police said.
When the male resident of the home investigated the source of the noises, he found a black male in the process of detaching an Xbox from the television set, Ferndale Police Det. Lt. William Wilson said in a statement.

The resident yelled at the alleged thief, who held onto the gaming equipment as he ran from the house, Wilson said.

Ferndale police officers responded and cordoned off the area to search for the suspect, and nearby Hazel Park police brought a K-9 unit to the area.
The suspect, a 16-year-old from Highland Park, was found hiding in a yard with the stolen items in his possession, Wilson said.
The teen was arrested and taken to Oakland County Children’s Village and referred to juvenile court authorities.
