Ferndale Hires Interim Recreation Director Jillian Manchik Into Permanent Position

The city of Ferndale recently filled the position of recreation director, promoting interim recreation director Jillian Manchik into the permanent position.

According to a news release from the city, Manchik started working with Ferndale in Sept. 2008 as a recreation supervisor where she managed all of the city’s recreation programming and scheduling.

Prior to working for Ferndale, Manchik worked as a parks and recreation program specialist for the city of Parkland in Florida, and she also worked as a special events coordinator and camp director for the City of Richmond Parks and Recreation in Michigan.

Manchik has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University with a major in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Administration and maintains a current Certified Park and Recreation Professional certification.

According to the release, Manchik is involved in maintaining relationships with neighboring communities to work collectively on recreational opportunities and she aims to increase recreation programming in the city and the involvement of the community's adults and youth.
