Ferndale Man Allegedly Stole Liquor, Styling Tools for Bus Fare
Bloomfield Township police said they found the suspect hiding under a tree with a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise.

FERNDALE, MI – A Ferndale man was arrested Thursday by Bloomfield Township police after he allegedly stole about $1,000 worth of merchandise he planned to sell to get money for bus fare to Arizona, police said.

Sean Baten, 45, allegedly wheeled a cart full of alcohol and electronic hair styling tools from the Rite Aid store at 42931 Woodward Ave. about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Police said they found him hiding under a tree near the store with the merchandise, and he was arrested without incident.
Baten was arraigned in 48th District Court on first-degree retail fraud. Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein set bond at $100,000 and ordered him held at the Oakland County Jail.
