UPDATE: Man Kills Himself in Ferndale Park, Police Say
21-year-old Oak Park man shot himself Sunday afternoon, according to police.
A man apparently killed himself Sunday afternoon in , Ferndale police confirmed Monday.
About 3:45 p.m., Ferndale Police responded to a report of a injured man in Marie Park, which is north of Eight Mile in southwest Ferndale, Ferndale Lt. Detective William Wilson said.
"Officers arrived to find a dead man in a seated position leaning against the park drinking fountain," Wilson said in a statement Monday afternoon. "The man was wearing a uniform from a private security agency."

Wilson said it appeared the 21-year-old Oak Park man had shot himself in the chest with a .40 caliber pistol that was laying beside him.
"A suicide note was also found at the scene," he said.

Wilson said the name of the man is not being released to respect the privacy of the family.
