Ferndale Woman Strangled in Murder-Suicide, Police Say
A Hazel Park man left a message with police saying that he had killed a Ferndale woman and intended to kill himself early Sunday morning.

FERNDALE, MI — Police in Ferndale are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred early Sunday at a home on West Marshall Street, according to a news release.
Det. Lt. William Wilson of the Ferndale Police Department said in the release that police received a call shortly before 5 a.m. from a Hazel Park man "who left them a phone message stating that he had strangled and killed a woman acquaintance at her home on Marshall. He also said that he ingested a large quantity of drugs in order to commit suicide."
When police arrived, they found the 39-year-old woman dead in her back yard. When officers responded to the Hazel Park home of Matthew Aaron Bush, they found that he had died from an apparent ovedose of drugs, according to the release.

Autopsies will be performed to confirm the causes of death of Bush and the victim.
The woman's name has not been released.
