UPDATE: Ferndale Police Looking for Hit-and-Run Vehicle That Struck Pedestrian
A man suffered minor injuries when a green Mercury Cougar hit him as he walked near Martin and Chesnut.

Ferndale Police are searching for the driver and occupants of a green Mercury Cougar that hit a 20-year-old man about 6:20 p.m. Monday in the Martin Road and Chestnut Street area before driving away.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident, which appeared intentional, Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson said.
"(The incident) appears to be random," Wilson said.

"The 21-year-old victim said he was walking northbound on Martin, near Chestnut, when he observed an older – early 1990s – model, green, Mercury Cougar driving southbound on Martin," Wilson said in a statement.
The victim said he had stepped from the street onto the curb when the car started veering toward him, Wilson said. The victim said the male passenger, late teens to early 20s, wearing a white T-shirt and knit hat, opened the car door and struck the victim with the door.

"The car had about four occupants, all males, some black and some white," Wilson said.
Ferndale Police request that anybody with information call 248-541-3650.
Correction: The victim is 20 years old and the incident happened at 6:20 p.m.
