Ferndale Voters to Decide Levy Raising $4M Tax for Schools
Three people are running for two four-year terms on the City Council. Mayor David Coulter is unopposed.

Ferndale Mayor David Coulter is unopposed in his bid for another two-year term in Tuesday’s election, and three people are seeking two four-year terms on the City Council.
Candidates for the City Council are newcomer Raylon Leaks-May and incumbents Dan Martin and William S. White.

A proposed amendment to the charter would modify the nominating deadline and process for ocunting nominating petitions in which a votr signs more petitions than the number of candidates to be elected.
Ferndale Public Schools are asking for reauthorization of a levy on non-homestad property (such as industrial, commercial and rental properties) that had been reduced by the Headlee Amendment. The proposal would continue the $20 per $1,000 taxable valuation already in place, raising $4,073,000 for the school district in 2016.
Taxes would not increase.
