Friends Stop Robber Gloved with Potato Chip Bag

It's said one can never have too many friends. Two were enough for a metro Detroit woman early Saturday morning.

Quick action by two men thwarted an attack on their friend as the trio walked along Allen near Nine Mile in Ferndale about 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Ferndale Police Detective Lt. William wilson said in a news release that the suspect grabbed their friend in a choke hold with one hand and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t give up her money. While making the demands, he held a hand wrapped in a potato bag to her head.

The two male friends, who were walking ahead of the 49-year-old female turned around and grabbed the robber. The would-be robber escaped, but the victim’s friends chased him, tackled him and held him until police arrived.
