Man Threatened with Knife After Refusing Kiss: Ferndale Police

The alleged assailant "became very angry" when bar patron refused to give him a kiss, police said.

FERNDALE, MI — A man who refused another man’s kiss in a downtown bar Sunday night was threatened with a knife, Ferndale police said.

The incident happened about 11 p.m. at the Soho House, 205 W. Nile Road, a popular gay bar.

A 27-year-old bar patron told police that he was sitting at the bar when a stranger approached him. They struck up a conversation and at one point the suspect asked for a kiss, which the other man refused.

“The suspect became very angry and removed a folding knife from his pocket and said, ‘Follow me,’” Ferndale Police Detective Brendan Moore told The Daily Tribune.

The man felt threatened and alerted the bartender, who called police, Moore told WWJ Radio.

The suspect is white, in his 20s, 5-foot-9, 170 pounds and was wearing blue jeans and a dark T-shirt with green lettering that said “Moons Out Goons Out.” He may also have had a tattoo on his forearm.

“He was also fairly intoxicated,” Moore said.
