El Tontos Mexican Brewery Pranks Ferndale
This April Fool's Day joke had Ferndale residents chattering on social media.
FERNDALE, MI — Word of new Mexican restaurant headed for Ferndale created a buzz the last couple weeks around the city. The Facebook page called El Tontos Cerveceria and Cocina launched March 22 claiming it would take the spot of the former Como’s on Woodward Avenue at 9 Mile and even give the space a makeover along the way.
Several metro Detroit media outlets announced the opening of the new brewery and restaurant (including us here at Patch), but on April 2, the jokesters behind El Tontos -- which means "fool" in Spanish -- came clean about the joke on Facebook. There's no new authentic Mexican food headed for Ferndale for now.
