Ferndale ordinance requires that property owners are responsible for clearing sidewalks within 24 hours of the first accumulation.

Dangerous Walking!

Together, we are all responsible for keeping Ferndale safe and comfortable for pedestrians, your neighbors, those pushing strollers, using wheelchairs, or for any power walkers needing a clear path.

Ferndale ordinance requires that “Property Owners” are responsible for clearing adjacent sidewalks within 24 hours of the first accumulation. If you are not the property, check you lease agreement and find out who is responsible for the snow removal. If you, as a tenant are responsible, there may be a clause in the lease that you would be responsible for any citations or fines that the property owner receives from the city.

On a personal note, my wife and I love Ferndale and chose to live here because of the awesome downtown area and the ability to walk to many of the great stores and restaurants. We don’t mind the cold, but we do mind the challenge of walking on snow covered sidewalks or slipping on ice.
