'Roaring 20s' Theme of Ferndale's Homecoming Parade and Tailgate Party

FERNDALE, MI — Nothing says fall like a high school homecoming celebration, and Ferndale Schools are gearing up for the third annual Ferndale High School homecoming Parade and Tailgate Party on Friday, Oct. 7.

The theme of the relatively new homecoming tradition is the "Roaring 20s," so you know what that means — dust off your great-great auntie's flapper dress and her suitor's fedora, straw boater or bowler and get ready for the fun.

The parade begins at 5 .m. at the corner of Planavon and Nine Mile Road. It will proceed west down Nine Mile to Pinecrest, where it will turn south and head to Ferndale High School.

The tailgate party also starts at 5 p.m. It features food from Motor City Franks and Monkey Business, entertainment from the Grateful Dads, and bounce houses and other fun stuff for kids of all ages.

The Ferndale Eagles host the Hazel Park Vikings in the football game, which kicks off at 7 p.m.
