Rust Belt Vendors Lend a Hand for New Patio
Rust Belt Market co-owner Chris Best said the permanent patio will feature a unique railing made of scraps from a laser cutter and an art installation that will be unveiled this summer.
In true Ferndale "do it yourself" fashion, co-owner Chris Best and a group of the market's vendors worked together last weekend to re-pour concrete in front of the market.
The project was done in preparation for a new permanent patio at the Rust Belt, which Best said will offer an inviting atmosphere and updated look for the building's exterior.
"It should be pretty welcoming," he said.

A permanent art installation, which will be unveiled this summer, will be featured on the corner outside the market as part of the patio, and a unique railing made from scraps from a laser cutter is in the works.
Best said the patio will give customers a place to sit, read the newspaper or enjoy items purchased at the market such as coffee, tea, soup or pie.
